Introducing City Safety Technology

The Volvo XC60 is the first Volvo to showcase City Safety Technology. Like active cruise control, this radar-based system can apply the Volvo’s brakes to maintain a safe distance between it and the vehicle ahead on the road, to the point to bringing the Volvo to a full stop if needed.

Design & Style

The XC60 is the first vehicle to show new design cues that will be featured in future Volvo cars. This includes pumping up the visual volume with more expressive shapes and details. The lower body is wide and the stance strong, while the upper section of the car has a sporty, dashing design. The tail section is particularly impressive with tail lamps that cascade down from the corners of the roof and with a clever glass tailgate that can be opened any of three ways: full open, top section open or lower section open.

Power and Performance

The 3.0-liter turbocharged T6 engine is based on Volvo’s naturally aspirated 3.2-liter inline all-aluminum six-cylinder that was introduced in the Volvo S80 in 2008. The T6 delivers 281 horsepower of torque with no less than 295 lb.-ft., combining for best-in-class performance. Maximum torque is available from just 1,500 rpm and remains on tap throughout the rev range. The result is swift acceleration and impressive passing performance. Volvo’s all-wheel-drive system with Instant Traction is standard in the new XC60.
